ON VALOR
"Valor consists in the power
of self-recovery, .. This can only be by his (the individual) preferring truth
to his past apprehension of truth, and his alert acceptance of it from whatever
quarter." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

We are entering the fourth quarter of the year. It's like rounding third base
and heading for home. Will you achieve the goals you set for this year by
December 31st or have you become distracted, derailed, or demoralized?
"After all is said and done, there is more said than done." - Anonymous
This is a time to evaluate, reflect, and, as Emerson said, recover. Often it's
apprehension that causes us to shrink our goals to fit past wrappers rather than
face the truth of impending success. Failure has its payoffs even though we deny
it vehemently.
"Either we grow or we pay more for staying the same." - Norman Mailer
Disorganization is a truth for some. If it fits, ask why. Unexpected changes,
sometimes catastrophic, can alter our direction. Plot a new course.
If you're on track, applaud. If not, don't waste time in self-recrimination.
Examine the cause, regroup, and make plans. Three months remain. Use them
wisely.
Ask yourself these questions:
1. What are the three most important things I want to achieve over the next
three months - personally - professionally - or in my business?
2. What steps must I take to ensure my success?
3. How and when will I take those steps?
Hamlet said, "To be or not to be, that is the question." Your question is, to do
or not to do? It's your choice. Go for the home run!
